South Africa — Mark Boucher, South African Cricketer, retired from international cricket.
On Monday, 9 July, the 35-year-old wicketkeeper sustained an injury to his left eye after a bail ricocheted off the wickets.
The extent of his eye injuries were described as being severe and extensive.
It is reported that it is still not clear whether or not Boucher suffered long-term injuries.
“Although the eyeball has been repaired, the long-term prognosis currently remains unknown. We just have to wait and see how things pan out,” said Dr Mohammed Moosajee, team manager.
