Inmates strangle Warrant Officer

South Africa—  South African Police Service(SAPS) confirmed on Monday,  2 July,  that one of their Warrant Officers had indeed been killed at their Katlehong police cells on the East Rand.

It is reported that the officer responded to a noise in one of the cells Sunday night,  1 July,  where two

Mozambican men over powered him and strangled him with one of their blankets.  According to

Noxolo Kweza from the SAPS “The two prisoners were in the cells for hijacking. They had been identified in an ID parade for hijacking.”

He furthermore stated that the two suspects fled and are currently still at large.
