South Africa — The 30 year old male who conned businesses by commiting sim card fraud has been caught. The male was arrested in Silverfields, Krugersdorp by the West Rand K9 unit after a local recident told them where they can find the suspect.
He temporarly resided at his mother, the police searched her house as well after he was arrested. The found two cellphones which he used to commit the crimes. They also found approximately 40 sim cards, many of these were business cards and cards used by robots.
Police also found two airtime processing machines, for Vodacom and Liquid G.
According to Vincent Mashiteng, Roodpoort police communications officer, he must have been busy with this for a while, "This is a very big bust and the possibility of the hawks looking into it, is good."
"Running a scam like this must take more than one man, but investigations into this will determine how he managed to do this."
Police also found marijuana at the home of the suspects mother, where he was said to have temporarily resided.
