South Africa — An service delivery protest is currently in progress in Zandspruit informal settlement in north-western Johannesburg.
According to residents they want basic service delivery, and they also lit small fires around the informal settlement.
South African Police Service (SAPS) officers urge residents to avoid the area as it is very dangerous to pass through at this moment.
The road stretching between the R55 and Johan Road has been completely closed to accommodate the protesting residents.
Peter Road has also been closed by the SAPS.
According to an eyewitness the protest was already underway when he passed through at 5am.
Thus far no injuries have been reported.
