The study which was conducted by Pondering Panda, an local consumer insight company, was aimed mainly at person between the ages of 18 and 34, during which they were asked to anwer questions on how they perceive the SAPS.
The independent study was conducted on the social network mainly used by the youth, Mxit.
"About 66% of them said they did not trust police to come to their aid in an emergency," Shirley Wakefield, Pondering Panda spokesperson, said. "They gave the impression that they don't feel protected by the police when they find themselves in tricky situations, the youth holds goverment responsible for their mistrust," Wakefield continued.
