Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (JEMS) said that the boys, aged between 3 and 10, burnt to death during the early hours of Wednesday morning, 20 June.
It is reported that the father cover the place with fuel following a domestic fight.
Police suspects foal play and thus the small Sowetan home is now officially a crime scene.
According to one of their neighbours, the man threatened to set the house alight after he had a fight with his wife, she also said that neighbours saw the flames and ran to assist the family in extinguishing the fire which ingulfed the home.
Philane (10), Zanele (8) and Mpumi Radebe (3) were killed while their parents sustained burns.
The parents were both taken to the Chris Hani Baragwanath state-hospital located in Soweto.
According to the SAPS the father now faces arrest.
