"Soweto fire father" gets charged

South Africa — Neighbours yesterday,  20 June,  lashed out a Soweto man who reportedly ignited a fire which claimed the lives of his three sons.
It is said,  by his neighbours,  that the man locked himself and his family inside their home on Tuesday night,  19 June,   and set it alight.
The man and his wife had been fighting before the incident.
“We don’t expect him to come back here if he gets bail because he deserves to rot in jail. If he comes back here, the community will kill him,"  said a fairly upset neighbour.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the man will be arrested to face charges of murder and attempted murder after he recovered from his wounds in hospital.
The mother is in hospital recovering from her injuries as well.

Lawyer,  William Carrim,  said they welcomed the withdrawal of charges.
Now six accused, three adults and three minors, are out on bail.

Microsoft hoax continues

World — The Money From Microsoft giveaway hoax is one of the most prevalent email hoaxes on the Internet. There are a number of versions of this hoax, all claiming that Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates, will give away money or other benefits in exchange for forwarding emails. In spite of thorough public debunking over several years, people continue to forward these silly emails in the vain hope that Bill will share his fortune.
This aging hoax is still circulating and apparently still convincing email recipients all around the planet that Bill Gates and AOL will send them a stack of money simply for passing on an email. The only way to "track" such an email would be to embed some sort of hidden code in the email. Even if Bill did decide that "sharing his fortune" was something that he wanted to do, I'm pretty confident he wouldn't go about it in this way. In any case, tracking an email in the way described would raise all sorts of privacy issues. There have been several hoax emails that refer to this email tracking concept, all of them equally nonsensical.
This one, and all of its mutant siblings should be sent directly to the trash bin.

The following sites will clearly show that the same "hoax mail" has been travelling around the world for almost 10 years already:

2.8% - UK inflation rate drops

United Kingdom — The UK rate of inflation fell last month to a two-and-a-half year low owing to slowing fuel and food prices.
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure fell to 2.8% in May from 3% in April, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
The Retail Prices Index (RPI) measure fell to 3.1% from 3.5% in April.
Inflation has fallen from 5.2% last September due to the waning impact of the VAT rise in 2011 and falling energy, food and commodity prices.
The fall in inflation was unexpected, as the consensus among economists was that the rate would be unchanged in May. However, analysts said price rises were likely to slow further in the coming months.
"Expect further falls in inflation as energy bills rise less over the summer versus last year," said George Buckley at Deutsche Bank.
"The fall in CPI inflation to 2.8% in May increases the likelihood at the margin of more quantitative easing (QE)... We expect £50bn with a sizable risk of a 25 basis point rate cut to boot."
Philip Shaw at Investec agreed, saying: "The inflation measures have all come in below market expectations and another drop in the targeted measure helps the case for more quantitative easing."
The current level of QE, a mechanism to pump money into the economy to try and stimulate growth, stands at £325bn and was last increased by the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee in February.
The May inflation figures show that consumers are starting to benefit from a fall in recent months in the cost of crude oil.
Average diesel prices also decreased, dropping 4.4p to 143.3p between April and May, compared with a 0.7p rise last year to 141.5p.
The Bank of England has predicted that CPI inflation will remain above the 2% target rate "for the next year or so".
Last month, inflation moved to within 1% of the target, meaning Bank of England Governor Sir Mervyn King did not have to send an open letter of explanation to the Chancellor, George Osborne.
An open letter is triggered if the CPI rate remains above 3% or below 1% for three months in a row.
Upward pressure A Treasury spokesman said: "Inflation is out of Open Letter territory for the second month in a row, which is good news and is providing some welcome relief for family budgets."
In further evidence that the weak economic climate is forcing retailers to cut prices to draw in customers, food and drink prices rose by just 0.3%, compared with a much steeper 1.3% rise last year.
The ONS said this was driven by declines in the price of fruit, particularly grapes, bananas, peaches and nectarines. The price of vegetables, mineral waters, soft drinks and juices also fell.
The most significant upward pressure on inflation, the ONS said, came from air and sea fares. But these were distorted by the timing of Easter in 2011 and 2012 and the subsequent difference in the timing of school holidays.
Air fares rose 1.4% in May, compared with an 11.1% drop last year, while sea fares rose 2.6%, compared with a 14.7% fall last year. - BBC NEWS > UK

It is said that the flames engulfed the woodenstructure in which the boys were sleeping.

According to Stephanie Bentley their family which includes 28 other children in their care,  couldn't believe what had happened.

Mia was die oujaarsaand toe Pippie 80% brandwonde tydens 'n braai by haar ouerhuis opgedoen het.

Ons was baie,  baie bekommerd.

Church warning on gay marriage

United Kingdom — The Church of England has warned that proposals to legalise gay marriage could undermine its status.
It says giving civil ceremonies the status of marriage would "alter the intrinsic nature of marriage as the union of a man and a woman".
The Home Office said religious bodies would not have to conduct gay marriages but the Church also fears this could be challenged in European courts.
Gay rights campaigners accuse the Church of "scaremongering".
Civil partnerships were introduced in 2005 to give same-sex couples the same legal rights as married couples, but the law does not allow such unions to be referred to as marriages.
Responding to a consultation in England and Wales, the Church of England said government proposals to allow same-sex marriages by 2015 would "alter the intrinsic nature of marriage as the union of a man and a woman, as enshrined in human institutions throughout history".
It said marriage acknowledged "an underlying biological complementarity which, for many, includes the possibility of procreation".
Justice Minister Crispin Blunt said the government was making proposals "around marriage in the eyes of the state"
The Church claims that plans to exempt religious organisations from performing gay marriages would be unlikely to survive legal challenges in domestic and European courts.
As such, the government's consultation exercise, which closes on Thursday, was "flawed, conceptually and legally", it added.
Tory MP Crispin Blunt conceded the government's aim "to protect, indeed proscribe, religious organisations from offering gay marriage" may be "problematic legally".
"But the proposal the government are putting forward is that marriage should be equal in the eyes of the state - whether it's between a same-sex couple or a man and a woman," he told BBC One's Breakfast.
By highlighting the possible loss of its role as a principal provider of marriages, and hinting even at the potential unravelling of its established status, the Church of England hopes to alert the public to the magnitude of what it believes is being proposed in the gay marriage legislation.
The Church says an institution of "vast" benefit to society as a whole is being undermined to meet a political need, and is being deliberately presented as something far more consequential.
The consultation is a "very shallow piece of work on a very serious subject", according to Church officials.
For the Church, a marriage - with its focus on procreation and the need to be consummated - is something that is simply not available to gay couples. By creating different understandings of marriage, it insists, the whole institution will be weakened - something the nation should not be allowed to sleep-walk towards.
But human rights lawyer Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, the vice-president of the Law Society, said the European court was unlikely to agree that any religious organisation would be forced to carry out same-sex marriages.
"But what it might say is that religious organisations should be allowed to if they want to," she told BBC Radio 4's Today programme, adding that "many" did.
The plans do not allow for religious organisations in favour of change to conduct gay marriages.
The Church says the role of Anglican clergy to perform marriages for any parishioner who wanted one might disappear, undermining the Church of England's role as the state church.
The Rt Rev Tim Stevens, Bishop of Leicester, said the Church was "trying to uphold a traditional of teachings and understandings about marriage" at a time when "many marriages are in difficulty".
"It's very unlikely that, in just a few weeks, a new, universally-acceptable definition of a fundamental social institution can emerge overnight like this," he told Today.
Ben Summerskill, chief executive of Stonewall, meanwhile, accused the Church of England of a "masterclass in melodramatic scaremongering that somehow this is the biggest upheaval since the sacking of monasteries".
He told Today there was "no evidence whatsoever that people will take legal cases against the Church of England" because "the opportunity to sue someone if they don't provide a wedding of your choosing" already existed in law.
"There are hundreds of thousands of people who get remarried everywhere and the churches already say we will not carry out such weddings.
"If there were lawyers and, indeed, excited claimants who wanted to take such a legal case, they would have already been taken in that context," he added.
Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, meanwhile, said the government's proposals only concerned civil marriages in registry offices and would have "no impact on faith organisations or places of worship".
The Home Office said it had made it clear that "no religious organisation will be forced to conduct same-sex marriages as a result of our proposals".
"We welcome the Church of England's response and we will be carefully considering all points of view before publishing the outcome of the consultation later in the year," a spokesman said.
In April, prominent Church of England figures wrote an open letter to the Times newspaper saying the Church had "nothing to fear" from the prospect of gay marriage.
The Catholic Church in England and Wales, meanwhile, has urged people to sign an online petition organised up by the Coalition for Marriage.
More than 550,000 people have so far signed the petition set up by the "umbrella group of individuals and organisations in the UK that support traditional marriage and oppose any plans to redefine it".

Pippie se geskenkie

Isabella 'Pippie' Kruger - Source Photo

Even as a baby you have a purpose in life - Source Photo
Since the beginning of time,  we as human beings wondered what our purpose on this tiny planet in the massive solar system are.
The chances are most likely that we will never know but you can begin by looking at your individual purpose...
As a human you must have done something in your life that felt like it was the right thing to do,  it is exactly this aspect that is your purpose in life.
You may have had loads of these experiences but maybe one is standing out somewhere;  If you already have a job,  do this as a hobby...if not do it as a permanent job....
Only then will you live out your purpose in life and will you be happy!!!!

Mdluli Fights Back

Richard Mdluli,  the suspended head of crime intelligence - Source Photo
South Africa — Richard Mdluli - suspended head of crime intelligence will challenge his suspension in court this after his lawyers sent a letter to the acting national police commissioner,  Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi,  which demands that it be done by Wednesday of this week.
Some of the contents of the letter is a question asking for a reason why Mdluli got suspended.  It is expected that Mkhwanazi didn't uplift his suspension the matter would land up in the Labour Court.
Mdluli’s second suspension has been interpreted to indicate an increasing defiance by Mkhwanazi of political attempts to bury the Mdluli investigation.
